Nice use of chipping and glitch effects! The individual elements seem to blend well with each other without sounding too mushy. Where'd you get these amazing samples?

Alexis744 responds:

In my spare time I listen to so much music on YouTube and I try songs that I think could have potential like Future Funk or Vaporwave.

Also, the sample of this song is: Blue Feather - Lets Funk Tonight

Looking good so far as an intro! One thing I feel is missing is some added wetness/dimension to the second bass, to help it contrast to the relatively drier first bass. That, and possibly some more EQing to prevent the two basses from clashing. Other than that, I am optimistic about the track's potential.

PolyDroidZ responds:

ok ill try to improve it put some more action into the second bass, and add a drum loop to put the cherry on top.

Nice use of raw kick heads as snares, at the beginning, I like it! The harsh siren synths throughout the track really add to the theme.

You need limiting to achieve that blowout effect. But this doesn't sound half bad.

I can feel the epicness in those synths and the melodies! The kick is crunchy as ever and plays well with the upper instruments. I was just wondering why you have such a strong sidechain for this track, with an envelope that feels similar to a dubstep track. Usually HS artists just syncopate or delay their melodic elements so they don't collide with the kick head. Perhaps try that next time to create a more natural rhythm to your track?

Nice wistful atmosphere you got there, contrasting highly with the clicky, digital kick. Speaking of the kick, it feels like there is only a kick and no punch; even the bass seems lacking. Right now it almost sounds like the mix is sidechaining to pure silence. Perhaps EQing it less and focusing on elements such as saturation and dynamics (e.g. compression) could help beef up your kick and let it punch through the mix. But other than that, this sounds like a great tune!

tripsOTG responds:

tysm for the feedback, i dont really know much about mixing, i kinda just do what feels right to me in the moment, but ill definitely take this into consideration!

Filthy and hard-hitting sound design? There are some empty sections, including a moment of complete silence, that could be filled with something like background instruments or a reverb tail (pretty common in dubstep nowadays) but other than that this sounds like a very promising track!

Interesting that this cinematic piece was made via tracker, considering how acoustic many of the impacts and atmospheres sound. The whole track feels wide and very much a soundscape, which helps contribute to that epic feel. The buildup is gradual but rewarding and leads to an intense finish!

zybor responds:

Thank you for your review :)

What a gritty and industrial track! I love how distorted and dirty the bassline feels, something similar to the tail of Frenchcore kicks. Beautiful stuff and perfect for Madness!

Very intense and wild basses you got there! The drop as such high energy and the sidechain balance between percussion and bass is spot on! The track has quite a bit of harmonic elements, so I did feel a bit put off by the pitches of the some of the basses, some of which seem to conflict with the dominant key of B minor/G major. Perhaps keeping track of harmonic progressions when structuring your drop can help your bass melodies sound more harmonic!

DeadbushiaYT responds:

Thanks! This song was mostly originally me testing sounds with serum and I didnt intend for it to be a full song which is why tons of parts are in different keys.
