Interesting story and use of pausing for tension. Some of the words could have been spoken a bit clearer, and I feel like the expression is a bit lacking, but the words of the narration itself helps balance them out.

Love the tribal and tundra vibes at the beginning! The drop sounds really cool and unique; I like your layering of elephant sounds under the kicks, which really provide a good stand-in for hardcore synths! I feel like the samples themselves could be a bit more "full" or "epic": currently they sound too mono; some stereo effects like Haas delay combined with some multiband could improve them especially for a heavy track like this one. Other than that, a great track!

Nice melody and choice of sounds! I like how all the various melodies from each instrument meld together as they get added on, especially when the drop hits—it's quite a harmonious bunch of sounds!

I feel like the kick and snare overwhelm the percussion, especially in the earlier sections. Only when we here all the instruments together do the instruments and percussion seem closed to balanced. Have you tried sidechaining your kick to duck the instrument volume as it plays? If you do, you can make the percussion punch through the mix while still allowing the instruments to be present when the kick and snare are not audible.

There's also a hissing noise somewhere in the drops that I feel needs to be EQed out. Unless that is supposed to be deliberate?

I love the mixture of sounds, it definitely brings me back! The basses and lead are almost perfectly encapsulated from that era, and the vocals really top it off. The mixing feels a bit dry though; some of the sounds could use a little reverb or saturation imo. Also, if you want to really nail that Spag Heddy piano you'll need something a bit more detuned with some saturation added onto it... but other than those minor details this track is a wonderful nostalgia capsule!

thank you so much for your response!
i never really thought of that, but now that you mention it, it makes it painfully obvious, how much it could have benefit the song!
i really miss this era of music, and it makes me sad that this style was pretty much abandoned completely, so i wanted to pay homage to the genre lost in time.

again, thank you so much for the feedback!

I can really pick up the somber vibes in this performance! I like the percussion sound on the off-beats in the middle sections; it gives an organic feel to the sound. I feel like the recording could use some peak control (like compression) to tame the spikes in the sound and allow the strumming to be heard better, but other than that this is a very nice tune!

Love the intensity of the track! The hypnotic rhythm of the first section got me pumping, and the doubled tempo and variations of the second section had me really going all out. And that speedcore finale... just incredible. I feel like the midsection instrumentation could be a bit louder instead of just the drums, but other than that the sound design and mixing is amazing!

I can definitely feel the flesh with your sound effects, especially in the second half of your preview! The warped piano adds a nice background to the mayhem, and it really gave me the chills at the start. I can't wait to hear what the final piece will turn out to be!

JazzDew responds:

Haha thanks! I plan on trying to add some more avantgarde sounds a synths later down the line, and maybe try to warp my voice. So hopefully it turns out good in the end! :D

Very deep and chill! I like this style of electronic, with its hypnotic beat and dirty bass yet it doesn't feel that aggro at all. Wish it was a bit louder so that it could be easier to pick up on some systems. Other than that, great work!

IndustryStandard responds:

That's a good note about the bass, I'll take that into consideration. The headphones I use are great for listening to music but I don't think they're very good for mixing, I'll try "overdoing" the bass a little bit on my end next time. I should also try listening on my laptop speakers too, I know, but I always forget when I'm excited to post a new track haha.

Thanks for the review, glad you liked it!

This reminds me a lot of classic/oldschool Frenchcore. A simple yet groovy lead, mixed within a medley of hard-hitting kicks and earthshattering kickrolls—it's quite the callback! Some of the highs in the crashes feel a little harsh, especially at the beginning, but that detail pales in comparison to the grandeur of these kicks! I see great potential in your work!

Love the buildup; it keeps up the pressure near the end. The kick and lead are also superb, and the cymbals and highs are mixed well and add to the hype of the track! I was hoping for the second buildup to sound a bit different from the first, or at least have some sort of midsection in between the first drop and the next buildup, but other than that this is a pretty good track!

A dimension traveller roaming across the cosmos, spreading the world of hard to their inhabitants as I go. Vive la Frenchcore, Frenchcore worldwide!
